This is a rewarding cause, and it’s clear that working together to collect as many pairs of gently worn shoes as possible will have a big impact on the people who need them.  The shoes that are donated will go to Shoe Away Hunger, where they will be sold for $2.50 a pair.  The money collected during shoe sales will then be used to buy groceries from local food shelves, where a whole week’s worth of groceries can be provided.

In addition, Pinnacle Services is working with Good in the Hood to secure generous donations of book bags that will be filled with personal hygiene items and school supplies.  These book bags will be given to homeless youth in our area.

Our hope is to donate more than 100 pairs of shoes and book bags.  We are well on our way to reaching that goal!  Our HR department has been keeping track of the donations, ensuring we are on track, sending out positive reminders when the donations slow down, and keeping our donation bins tidy and organized.  We truly appreciate their help, as well as all of the donations made by our generous and community-minded employees. UPDATE 8/4/16:  The numbers are in and our Pinnacle team donated 199 pairs of shoes to Good in the Hood!  That’s almost 4 years of meals for families in need!

Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house and providing a ‘home cooked’ meal for parents and siblings of children admitted to the Children’s Hospital of Minnesota was such a rewarding experience. To be part of a company who encourages and funds their employees to give back by volunteering their time and energy is so special to me.  Just watching the parents breath a sign of relief as they walked into the House realizing they didn’t have to take on one more responsibility or make one more decision that day.  All that was asked for was a thank you, no cooking, no cleaning, just enjoying a delicious hot bite of chili and corn bread, with a root beer float as a treat to go, and making their way back to the bedside of their sick child.  I hope the Ronald McDonald House is an organization Pinnacle Services continues to volunteer with over the next few years and my coworkers continue to experience the satisfaction I felt while giving back time and time again.

For the fourth year in a row, a team of employees will be volunteering with the Salvation Army assisting families with holiday shopping on December 18^tth from 3:30 – 7 PM. Contact Desiree Gnerre at desiree.gnerre@pinnacleservices.org if you’re interested in participating. The Salvation Army, local organizations, and non-profits have many volunteer opportunities over the holidays.

Pinnacle staff participated in a 5K walk to help raise funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on Saturday, September 27^th. We had 21 people on our team who, with the Pinnacle donation, raised $755 to support individuals impacted by mental health issues.

Four of our staff participated in the 19^th Annual Paul Adelman Children with Disabilities Golf Classic on July 28^th. This event raised over $250,000 for children with disabilities. We are honored to be part of such a wonderful charity event that serves children right in our own communities! If you go to event website, you can see our Pinnacle golf crew.
