A Two-Day event June 23 – 24

Annually, Twin Cities Pride brings the greater GLBT community together to commemorate diverse heritage, foster inclusion, educate and create awareness of issues, and celebrate achievements in equality. They create events that are open and inviting to everyone in the community, providing a safe environment in which individuals can feel free to celebrate their relationships. The event is free to attend.

Date & Time: June 23 – 24; 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Place: Loring Park, 1382 Willow Street, Minneapolis MN, 55405

Employee Appreciation Night

At the end of September, Pinnacle Services held its annual Employee Recognition Dinner honoring all of our Direct Support Professionals, as well as our management level employees that have been with us for at least one year. It was wonderful to see over 30 of our fantastic employees at the dinner! We took the time to recognize our employees who reached one year, five years and ten years of employment with tokens of appreciation and recognition. A highlight of the evening was to hear from the employees recognized for their length of employment with Pinnacle, and to see how dedicated they are to their work! We have truly wonderful employees at Pinnacle. It was great to see employees across different departments have the chance to socialize with each other as well.

A big thank you to Katy, Trent, Stephanie, Jerrica and Ashley in HR for their fantastic work in planning this event!

Pinnacle Services Employee Engagement!

Pinnacle Services provides a work hard, play hard atmosphere by utilizing an innovative employee engagement strategy. Experts say that engaged employees are more happy and productive. With that in mind, we recently enhanced our employee engagement strategy to fit the needs of the ever-changing workforce. We are increasing our engagement with employees to ensure strong communication, team building activities, weekly events and various recognition efforts.

Our communication efforts have been strengthened with social media, monthly updates via our office information displays, the agency’s monthly newsletter, Q&A sessions and our comment submission boxes! In addition to looking at our communication strategy, we decided to change our management meeting strategy. For all of 2017, we have decided not only to communicate our agency goals at these meetings but to make them more interactive and allow for some team building. At our May’s management meeting, we provided employees with the opportunity to connect through a good ol’ fashioned kickball game!

In addition to these efforts we have also implemented an employee events calendar that comes out each month with weekly events! In July, we will participate in “National Ice Cream at Work Day”, “Hat Day” and “Breakfast at Work Day”. In addition to these efforts, our employees can nominate each other for adhering to our core values. Each month, two nominated employees are chosen at random to have lunch with Human Resources; this seems to be a hit among many of our employees.

Inside Out Project on Pinnacle’s Downtown Location

Minneapolis has the largest Somali-American population in the United States. During the month of July, there will be an art installation, an Inside Out Project, which showcases people from the Minneapolis Somali-American Community, their personalities, sacrifices, creativity, hard work, and patriotism. The Inside Out Project will be on display on a building in the North Loop of downtown Minneapolis at 133 1^st Avenue North.

Inspired by large‐format street “pastings”, the Inside Out Project Minneapolis Somali-American Community gives those involved the opportunity to share their portrait and make a statement about Somali- American people and their commitment to our community and our Country. The Inside Out Project is a global platform for people to share their stories and transform their messages into works of public art. Over 260,000 people have participated in 129 countries. The Inside Out Project has displays from Ecuador to Nepal, Mexico to Palestine, inspiring group action on themes such as hope, diversity and climate change.

By bringing Inside Out to Minneapolis, residents will gain a new understanding of the Somali-American identity. These stories will not be framed through the lens of political news or immigration discussions; they are instead, personal and intimate portraits that highlight our shared humanity.

Inside Out is a large-scale participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. Everyone is challenged to use black and white photographic portraits to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of people around the world. These digitally uploaded images are made into posters and sent back to the project’s co-creators, for them to exhibit in their own communities. These exhibitions will be documented, archived and be made available online at http://www.insideoutproject.net/.

Pinnacle Paint Nite

Paint Nite was a HUGE success this month! Thank you Jackson Square for hosting the event! It was a great turn out from not only our Jackson Square clientele, but our Hampshire Park resident and a few of our ILS consumers! We look forward to more events like these!

Program Supervisor Team Shoutout!

Our Program supervisors have been working hard so far this year! Not only have they been continuing to support the quality services of our clientele, creating a happy working environment for the hard working staff members, they have continued with their own growth and development by attending out monthly Supervisor’s Workshops. I would like to acknowledge Melissa Landon, Jordon Schram, Annalie Nelson, Tim Reardon, Lisa Willie, Angela Price, Lynn Morris, April Fraley, Brittany Bergquist, Jaelynn Blenkush, Andrea Kinney and give a warm welcome back to Audrey Hoffman! This month the Program Directors were able to take our supervisor team out for a little fun at Park Tavern in St Louis Park!

Today is Give OUT day: Help fund the United Way Arise Project!

Give OUT Day is the national day of giving for the LGBTQ community – a 24-hour online fundraising event that unites the LGBTQ community nationally to raise critically needed funds to support hundreds of nonprofits serving and advocating for the LGBTQ community.

“As an actor my job is to tell others’ stories. For the fifth year, I’m a Givenator for Twin Cities United Way so I can help tell the story of LGBTQ youth homelessness and end it. Pinnacle at MSSA 2017

In March, Pinnacle Services attended the annual Minnesota Social Services Association Conference in downtown Minneapolis. Team members from the Case Management department were attendees of the conference, completing Continuing Education credits and to learn more about the latest best practices in social services. Team members from several departments helped spread the word about the work we do at our Exhibitor’s booth at the conference. This is always an exciting and busy time for our team members and helps us to continue providing quality services the rest of the year!

Pinnacle has a new HR Director!

Hello Everyone,

I’d like to take a minute to introduce myself. Some of you may have already met me or introduced yourselves to me at the management meeting but I joined Pinnacle Services at the end of July as the new Human Resource Director. I am delighted to join such a passionate organization and look forward to meeting each of you individually.

I come to Pinnacle with over 10 years of experience in training and development and recruitment and staffing. In my most recent role, I worked with Fortune 500 companies on talent acquisition. My experience is enhanced by my Bachelor of Science degree in Family Social Science.

I am excited to get to know everyone and in an effort to do so, I am leading in the organization and planning of our annual Employee Recognition Event. We have mailed invites to everyone who has been with the company for a year or more. I look forward to seeing everyone at this event. In the meantime, if you see my door open or an opportunity to introduce yourself and say hello, I welcome the opportunity to meet everyone on an individual basis.
